Bantam A Coach Needed

The Grand Rapids Blades hockey organization is in search of a head coach for our 2011 Bantam A team for the 2024-2025 season. This is a paid position for the head coach and staff with a budget that is negotiable based on experience level and fit with the team. The head coach may select their own assistant coach(es) or Blades can provide assistant coach support.

We are looking for an individual that can provide a strong interest and commitment level to the development of our athletes both on and off the ice. This person should have a strong hockey background with a motivation to give back to the game through coaching. Previous coaching experience is preferred, but not required. Coach mentoring and support will be provided by the Blades organization as needed/desired.

MAIN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Serve as the official spokesperson on behalf of the team.

Communicate the on and off-ice requirements to players and parents.

Coordinate the delegation of responsibilities to the assistant coach(es) and manager.

Plan on and off-ice activities in consultation with the assistant coach(es).

Design the practice plans in consultation with the assistant coach(es).

Coach the team in all games and practices or ensure proper coverage when unable to attend.

Establish rules for the team and oversee the supervision of the players.

TIME COMMITMENTS

Two weekly on and off-ice practices (practice days/times will be flexible based on coach's schedule)

Weekly game/practice preparation

Weekend games (1-2 home/away games per weekend)

Tournaments (total number is to be determined by coaching staff and team manager)

Communications to team parents (minimum weekly email and as needed)
